See some pictures, view link below...... Read More (another window will open)... 2010 Training Weekend Waiotapu, Rotorua - 24 & 25 April 2010.
There was no rest for the wicked this training weekend, as soon as we showed up and tied down the dogs we were then striat to the outdoor classroom with malamute's working as our subject. First up was Matt sharing with us the main rules, regulations, tips and tricks of racing. Jolyon followed with talks and demonstrations for weightpulling and finally Gary talking about pack walk and demonstrating how to fit a pack to mav and how to get the working titles. Amongst the talking the bbq was fired up for lunch and alot of laughs were shared (with the help from modeling dogs). All in all an enjoyable class. After the class every man and woman (and there dogs and packs) set off for a small pack walk. Then back to camp for a trial ride where the more experianced mushers helped out the "Newbes". This is very rewarding to see dog owners stoked at what there dogs can really do. All dogs seemed fairly quiet from this point onward. Dinner was ready for us where all mushers gathered feed and watered themselvs (some more than others). A pub quiz was organised and alot of controvercy and laughs were had and then the day was over. Early in the morning we all convoied into the forest for a 3km race back to camp. Even though this was a training run freindly competitiveness is still in the air. Everyone set out in time intervals and everyone made it back to camp (with smiles). Before we all knew the training weekend was over this was deffinently the most event filled weekend I have ever been to we gained new mushers and created freindship amongst ourselves. Huge thanks to Jolyon and committee and all the regulars for making this an awesome weekend. And good luck to all those who are taking up racing this season. Mike & Leeza. NAMC Championship Show 2005 Photos from our Championship Show June 2005. Read More... Rescue BBQ - May 7th, 2005 On Saturday 7th May 2005, we had a BBQ for Rescue Malamutes & their families. The weather really turned it on for us - sunny but cool, and we had a BBQ lunch in the Hunua Ranges. Some of the dogs had a swim in the river and went for a run, but mostly we just sat around and yarned.
Read More... Pet Expo 2004 In March 2004 the Northern Alaskan Malamute Club attended the 'Bow Wow Meow Pet Expo' at Auckland Showgrounds. It was a huge event, enormous amounts of people. We had a stand at the Expo, and we did a weightpull demo in the marquee on both the Saturday and the Sunday.
Read More... Iwitahi Working Weekend - April 2005 This was a hugely successful weekend, agreed by many to be the best they'd ever attended. This was partly due to good organisation by the committee, fantastic food cooked by Kylie & Kirsty, and great company including many new Malamute owners and people with rescue Mals.
Great conversation, a lot of fun, and everybody learnt a lot. And the dogs had a blast!! Read More...
